A few bits of advice

Bring food, money for coffee stop and a mobile phone.

Carry your CI license, as well as other ID which includes emergency telephone numbers (e.g. Road ID, donor card, etc.)

Bring 2 spare tubes and tyre levers (and know how to use them!).

Bring a pump. If you are going to use canisters bring at least 2 and make sure they are full. If you’ve used it already you can be guaranteed it will be empty when you need it.

Get your tyres checked and make sure they are of good quality and in good order. Your team mates won't be long getting cheesed off if the same people are puncturing all of the time. Ensure your types are inflated to 100psi and check the tyre pressure before each spin.

Ensure you are visible to others when cycling i.e. lights front and back.

Dress according to the weather conditions. In harsh conditions, full-finger gloves, overshoes, full-length bottoms and a good quality jacket are required.

Talk to your group leaders. They are usually very experienced and will always be happy to share their knowledge, help out and offer advice.
Enjoy yourself!
